Stroke clubs

Stroke Clubs are local groups for those affected by stroke, including stroke survivors and carers. They aim to provide a regular meeting place for people to come together and share their experiences as well as opportunities to take part in a programme of activities. (see stroke clubs)

Alnwick Stroke Club

Meets every Tuesday from 10am-2pm, at St. Paul's Court, Prudhoe Street, Alnwick, Northumberland. 

Auckland Stroke Club

Meets every Tuesday from 2-4pm, at Holyoak, South Pelaw, Chester-Le-Street, County Durham.

Consett Stroke Club

Meets every Thursday from 9:30am-2pm, at Derwentside District Council House, 11 Allison Gardens, Consett, County Durham.

Darlington After Stroke Club

Meets every Friday from 10:30am-2:30pm, at St. Augustines Parish Centre, Larchfield Street, Darlington.

Durham Stroke Club
Meets every Tuesday from 10am-2pm, at the Community Centre, Woodbine Road, Pity Me, Durham.

East End Health Out & About Stroke Club

Meet every Monday from 11:30am-4pm, at 28 Hawthorn House, Heaton Road, Byker, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Positive Strokes

Meets on the first Monday of each month from 2-4pm, at Ormesby Social Club, High Street, Ormesby, Middlesbrough.

S.E.N. Stroke Support Group

Meets on the third Monday of each month from 1-3pm, at Bedlington Residents Association, 16 Station Street, Bedlington Station.

Speakeasy Gateshead
Meets every Wednesday afternoon from 1:30-3:30pm, at Marigold Court, Old Fold, Gateshead. A referral from a Speech and Language Therapist is required to attend this club.

Whitley Bay Stroke Club
Meets fortnightly on Tuesday afternoon from 2-4pm, at The Piper, Marden Estate, Cullercoats.

Stroke North Wallsend
Meets on the second Thursday of the month from 1-3pm, at North Tyneside Carers Centre, Neptune Road, Wallsend.

Tynedale Stroke Club
Meets every Friday at 11am at The Torch Centre, Corbridge Road, Hexham, Northumberland.

Morpeth Speech After Stroke Club
Meets every Tuesday from 10am-2pm, at St. Christopher's House, Kirkhill, Morpeth. A referral from a Speech and Language Therapist is required to attend this club.

Hartlepool Young Stroke Support Club

Meets on the first Monday of each month from 3-5pm, at The Havelock Centre, Havelock Street, Hartlepool.

South Tyneside Speech After Stroke Club

  • Tuesday - 10:30am-3pm, at Saville Lodge, Saville Street, South Shields
  • Thursday - 10:30am-2pm, at St Mary's Sheltered Accommodation, Eldon Street, South Shields
  • Thursday - 1-3:30pm, at Chuter Ede Community Association, Galsworthy Road, South Shields.

New members must be referred by a Speech and Language Therapist.

WRVS Newcastle Speech After Stroke Club

  • Wednesday - 10:30am-2:30pm, at the Community Centre, Brunton Park, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
  • Tuesday and Friday - 10:30am-2:30pm, St. Clements Court, Redhouse Farm Estate, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

New members must be referred by a Speech and Language Therapist.

WRVS Sunderland Stroke Group
Meets every Thursday from 12:45-4pm, at Burn Park Church Hall, Burn Park Road, Sunderland.
