Stroke clubs

Stroke Clubs are local groups for those affected by stroke, including stroke survivors and carers. They aim to provide a regular meeting place for people to come together and share their experiences as well as opportunities to take part in a programme of activities. (see stroke clubs)

Essex

Brentwood Stroke Club
The group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 2-4pm at St Peter's Church Hall, Claughton Way, Hutton, Brentwood, Essex.

Castle Point Stroke Club
The club meets every Wednesday from 2-4:15pm at Runnymead Hall, Kiln Road, Thundersley, Essex.

The Chelmsford and District Stroke Club for Mid Essex
The group has an evening meeting on alternate Wednesdays from 7:30-9:30pm and a drop-in morning each Saturday from 10am-2:30pm when a hot meal is available. Both meetings are held at the Kathy Mapes Centre, Cottage Place, Chelmsford.

Epping Stroke Club
The club meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 2-4pm at the United Reformed Church, Lindsey Street, Epping, Essex. Members enjoy games, quizzes and social interaction.

Southend Stroke Club
The club meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month from 8-10pm in St Marys Church Hall, Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, Essex SS2 6NA
Members enjoy social activities such as quizzes, speakers and outings.

Colchester and District Stroke Club
The club meets every Tuesday from 2-4pm at Shrub End Social Centre, Shrub End Road, Colchester, Essex.

Harlow Stroke Support Group
The group meets every Friday from 10am-12pm at the Great Parndon Community Association, Abercrombie Way, Harlow.
There is also an additional drop-in session each Thursday and a health education meeting each month.

Dunmow and District Stroke Support Group
This supervised exercise support group meets every Tuesday from 9:30am-12:30pm at Banks Court, Gt Dunmow CM6 1UW

Loughton Stroke Club
The group meets every second and fourth Tuesday of each month, from 2-4pm. Members enjoy social activities, quizzes and outings.

Saffron Walden and District Stroke Club
This supervised exercise group meet on alternate Wednesdays at Saffron Walden Commmunity Hospital from 1:30-4pm.

Hertfordshire

South West Herts Stroke Scheme
The group is also known as Croxley Green Stroke Club and meets every Wednesday from 9:45-11:30am at Croxley Baptist Church, Baldwins Lane, Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.

St Albans and Harpenden Stroke Club
The club meets every Tuesday from 10:30am-12:30pm at Christchurch Hall, High Oaks, St Albans, Hertfordshire.
This stroke club is for people who have communication needs following a stroke.

Royston Speak Out Stroke Club
The group, for people who have communication needs following a stroke, meet every Wednesday from 10.15am-12:15pm at The Old Barn, Upper King Street, Royston, Hertfordshire.

Berkhamsted Tring Stroke Support Group
The group meets twice a month on Tuesdays from 10:15am-1:15pm at Northchurch Social Centre, and enjoy social activities including speakers and outings.

Suffolk

The Stroke Association Stowmarket Support Group
This group supports people who have communication needs following a stroke and meets each Thursday from 10am-12pm, during term time. The group meets at The Hillside Community Centre in Stowmarket.

The Lark Stroke Club
The club meets on the first Thursday of the month from 7-9pm at Hilltop House, Heldaw Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and also on the third Monday of each month from 2-4pm at West Road Church, West Road, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

Success After Stroke Club
The main meeting of the club is held on Tuesdays from 9:30am-12:30pm. It also meets at various times on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. All meetings are at The Stevenson Centre, Broom Street, Sudbury, Suffolk.

The Cheerful Friday Stroke Club
The group meets on the last Friday of the month from 2-4pm at The Gibson Centre, Newmarket Hospital, Exning Road, Newmarket, Suffolk.

Ipswich Young Stroke Group
This group for people under 65 years of age, meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30am - 12:30pm at The Key, 15 St Margaret's Plain, Ipswich IP4 2BB
The group have various activities including art, crosswords and outings such as bowling.

Bedfordshire

Flitwick and District Stroke Club
The group meets on the first Wednesday of the month from 2-4:30pm at Ellenshaw Court, Hinksley Road, Flitwick, Bedfordshire.

Cambridgeshire

Cambridge Club
This newly formed support group meets every Wednesday from 2-4pm at the Cambridge Cancer Help Centre, Scotsdales Garden Centre, 120 Cambridge Road, Great Shelford. Members can meet for lunch in the garden centre prior to the meeting if they wish.

Ely and District Stroke Club
The club meets on the second Wednesday of the month from 7-9pm at Bedford House, 28 St Mary's Street, Littleport, Ely, Cambridgeshire.

Cambridge and District Stroke Club
This club meets once a month on a Tuesday in the Chapelfield Way Centre, Off Link Road, Sawston, Cambridgeshire.
Various activities, speakers and outings are organised and therefore times and dates may vary depending on the activity.

Norfolk

Norwich Area Stroke Support Club
The club meets every second Wednesday from 2:15-4:15pm at Ethel Tipple Court, Sherwell Road, Hellesdon, Norwich.

Talk and Stroke Group
The group meets on Thursdays from 10am-12pm at Hillington Square Community Centre, Kings Lynn, Norfolk.
