Stroke clubs

Stroke Clubs are local groups for those affected by stroke, including stroke survivors and carers. They aim to provide a regular meeting place for people to come together and share their experiences as well as opportunities to take part in a programme of activities. (see stroke clubs)

Stroke clubs in Greater London

Barnet Asian Old People's Association (London Borough of Barnet)
Meets at Barnet Multicultural Community Centre on Algernon Road, Hendon.
There is a welcoming cultural atmosphere at meetings. You can enjoy exercises, group activities and an Asian vegetarian lunch.

Chingdale Stroke Club (Chingford, London E4 area)
Meets on alternative Monday evenings, from 7pm-9pm in North Chingford.
You can enjoy refreshments and a chat, plus bingo, quizzes, pub outings and social entertainment at this small, friendly club.

Dyscover (Walton on the Hill and New Malden, Surrey) 
A support group led by speech and language therapists, offering practical help, hope and encouragement through group meetings and activities for people with communication problems. Meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in Walton on the Hill, and on Tuesdays in New Malden.

Esher and District Stroke Club (Surrey)
Meets every Thursday from 9:30am-12pm at Arbrooke Hall, Claygate, Surrey.

Ealing Stroke Club (London Borough of Ealing)
Meets Mondays 10:30am-12:30pm at St John's Church Hall, Mattock Lane, West Ealing, W13 9LA
The club put on quizzes and word games, and go on occasional outings and lunches. This small and friendly social group provides an opportunity for people who have had a stroke to have a chat and a bit of fun.

Friday Stroke Club (Bexley, Kent)
Meets at Sidcup Baptist Church Hall every Friday from 10am-2:30pm.
The group organise maintenance groups, activities, cards, chess, bingo and outings, and offers a freshly cooked lunch.

Harefield Stroke Support Club (Middlesex)
Meets at Harefield Community Centre, Priory Avenue, Harefield on the first and third Wednesday of the month between 1:30-3:30pm, but please check as this can change.
Everyone is welcome to join this support club, held at an accessible venue, where we enjoy speakers and slides on various topics, and outings. 

Haringey Stroke Clubs (Hornsey, Tottenham and Wood Green)
The groups meet 40 weeks per year (term-time only) from 12-2pm and transport is provided.
We offer social interaction, a programme of activities and outings, and light refreshments.

Harrow Stroke Club (Harrow)
The club meets every other Wednesday from 12:30-3:30pm at The Lodge, 64 Pinner Road, Harrow.
The club provides an opportunity for people who have had a stroke to share experiences and socialise. This friendly club is supported by volunteers. We have reminiscence sessions, bingo, exercises, quizzes, speakers, music, outings and raffles. Lunch and tea are also provided at low cost.

Havering and District Stroke Club (London Borough of Havering) 
Meets on Wednesday afternoons from 2-4pm at the Trinity Church Hall on Angel Way, Romford.
Anyone who has had a stroke is welcome to join us for exercises, cards, dominoes, needlecraft and painting.

Hounslow Stroke Club (St Paul's, Brentford)
We meet on Wednesdays from 10:30am-12:30pm at St Paul's Church Centre, St Paul's Road, Brentford.
Come and enjoy spending time in the company of understanding, caring and supportive people.

The Stroke Association Croydon Young Stroke Group
(London Borough of Croydon) 
This new Stroke Association Stroke Group meets on the first Tuesday of the month at The Angel Cafe in West Croydon.
The Group aims to provide social contact and information for stroke survivors of working age in Croydon. Please contact Paul on 020 8688 7570 or Sue on 020 8651 2906, for more information.

The Stroke Association Greenwich Stroke Club
A recently launched Stroke Club has started in Greenwich and runs from The Dorado Day Centre, Time Court, Charlton SE7.
The club will meet on alternate Wednesday mornings, unless otherwise stated on the programme. We are now arranging speakers and one or two outings for our first year.
We would like to recruit a number of volunteers to help us run the club, and in particular we would like to appoint a Treasurer.

The Stroke Association Lewisham Stroke Club (London Borough of Lewisham)  
This Stroke Association club meets every second Wednesday of the month from 10am-12pm at Leeds Courts, Orford Road, Bellingham SE6.
Anyone who has had a stroke and would like to come along is welcome to join us.

Moving On Stroke Club (South West London)
The club meets in four venues - weekly in Roehampton and monthly in Hampton Hill, Richmond and Teddington. Members are welcome to attend any of the sessions.
The club provides an opportunity for people who have had a stroke and their carers to meet in an informal atmosphere. A full programme of activities, that are all chosen by members, is offered including outings, entertainment, bowls and exercises. Members can also share ideas and information, and enjoy the sociable company.

One Step Forward Club (London Borough of Bromley)
Meets on the first and second Friday of the month at Icare Day Centre Trust Ltd, Old School House, High Street, Green Street Green, Orpington, Kent.
The club organise speakers, quizzes and an annual outing.
Potential new members should phone before attending as the club is currently full and there is a waiting list for membership.

Parkside Stroke Club (Barking, Dagenham and Redbridge)
Meets every Tuesday at Parkside Community Centre, 176 Goodmayes Lane, Ilford.
The club warmly welcome anyone who has had a stroke, and their carers. We arrange exercises, speakers of interest and days out to the seaside and places of interest.

Redbridge Stroke Club
(London Borough of Redbridge)
Meets on Thursday afternoons, from 2-4pm at the Loxford Youth Centre.
Join the group for companionship, refreshments, raffles, gentle exercise, a speech group and occasional outings.

South Islington Stroke Club (Islington and neighbourhood)
Meets on Thursdays from 12-2pm at St Mary's Neighbourhood Centre, Upper St, Islington, London N1 2TX
Meet people, practice speech and enjoy a light lunch. The club also offers movement to music, games, talks and occasional outings, as well as general support and encouragement.

Stroke Action (Enfield)
Meets at The Visitors Centre, Pymmes Park, Victoria Road, Edmonton.
The club offers support, therapies and social activities to people who have had a stroke and their carers.

The Connaught Stroke Club at Whipps Cross Hospital (Leytonstone)
We meet every other Tuesday in the Connaught Day Hospital between 7-9pm. Come and join people who understand and have a great time. The group also arranges annual holidays and a few day trips.

Time and Talents Stroke Club (London Borough of Southwark)
Meets during term-time on Wednesdays from 1-3pm at Time and Talents, The Old Mortuary, St Marychurch St, Rotherhithe.
The club welcome new members and we have just celebrated our fifth birthday. Around 20 of us meet on a weekly basis for a range of activities including talks, entertainment, outings and sharing information.

The Hope Club (Spelthorne)

The Link Stroke Club (Orpington)
Meets on the first and third Monday of every month, excluding Bank Holidays, between 11am-3pm.
Join us for refreshments, craft work, a painting group, remedial exercises, musical entertainment, occasional speakers and various outings, including an annual seaside trip in the summer.

Wesley Stroke Group (Barnet, Potters Bar, Radlett, Borehamwood and Finchley)
Meets on Thursday mornings between 10am-12pm at the Wesley Methodist Church, High Barnet, Hertfordshire.
The club organise quizzes, a range of games, outings, speakers and exercises, and has lots of fun.
