Stroke clubs.

Stroke Clubs are local groups for those affected by stroke, including stroke survivors and carers. They aim to provide a regular meeting place for people to come together and share their experiences as well as opportunities to take part in a programme of activities.
 
However we cannot offer any guarantees over wether or not a particular group is suitable for younger stroke survivors. Please contact your local organiser. Alternatively you may wish to start up your own group. 2nd chance can help you do this and has a affiliation programme for groups suitable for younger stroke survivors.

Hinckley Stroke Club
Meets on Tuesdays from 10am-1:30pm at The Westfield Community Centre, Rosemary Way. Hinckley.
The members enjoy social meetings and games.

 

Harefield Stroke Support Club (Middlesex)
Meets at Harefield Community Centre, Priory Avenue, Harefield on the first and third Wednesday of the month between 1:30-3:30pm, but please check as this can change.
Everyone is welcome to join this support club, held at an accessible venue, where we enjoy speakers and slides on various topics, and outings. 

Haringey Stroke Clubs (Hornsey, Tottenham and Wood Green)
The groups meet 40 weeks per year (term-time only) from 12-2pm and transport is provided.
We offer social interaction, a programme of activities and outings, and light refreshments.

Harrow Stroke Club (Harrow)
The club meets every other Wednesday from 12:30-3:30pm at The Lodge, 64 Pinner Road, Harrow.
The club provides an opportunity for people who have had a stroke to share experiences and socialise. This friendly club is supported by volunteers. We have reminiscence sessions, bingo, exercises, quizzes, speakers, music, outings and raffles. Lunch and tea are also provided at low cost.

Havering and District Stroke Club (London Borough of Havering) 
Meets on Wednesday afternoons from 2-4pm at the Trinity Church Hall on Angel Way, Romford.
Anyone who has had a stroke is welcome to join us for exercises, cards, dominoes, needlecraft and painting.

Hounslow Stroke Club (St Paul's, Brentford)
We meet on Wednesdays from 10:30am-12:30pm at St Paul's Church Centre, St Paul's Road, Brentford.
Come and enjoy spending time in the company of understanding, caring and supportive people.

 

Halewood Stroke Club
Venue: St Marys Church Care Centre, Hillingden Avenue, Halewood, Liverpool L26 9TZ
Meeting time: second and fourth Thursday (fortnightly) 7:30-9:30pm
Activities: Social group with a variety of activities including theatre trips.
Organiser: Mrs Pauline Dooley

Harrogate and District Stroke Club
The club meets at Station View Elderly Persons Complex from 6:30-8:30pm on the first Wednesday of the month. With a range of activities, occasional outings and guest speakers all are made to feel welcome at the group. Transport can sometimes be arranged to get members to and from the group.

Hartlepool Young Stroke Support Club

Meets on the first Monday of each month from 3-5pm, at The Havelock Centre, Havelock Street, Hartlepool.

 

DISABILITY SPORTS IN WALES

Disability sports wales

The Disability Sport Wales National Community Development Programme is a joint initiative between the Sports Council for Wales, the Federation of Disability Sport Wales and the 22 local authorities across Wales. The scheme is aimed at developing quality community based sporting and recreational opportunities for disabled people throughout Wales.

Boccia and badminton club for children and young adults with a learning disability

This integrated archery club caters for visually impaired individuals and wheelchair users. For more information, contact David Coupland on 01874 611483.

    The UK Brain Injury Association. Its aims are to promote understanding of all aspects of head injury and to provide information, support and services to people who have suffered a head injury, their family and carers.

  • Heart & Stroke Information Point
    Provides reliable, up to date information for patients and carers affected by heart disease and/or stroke conditions

  • HemiHelp
    Provides information and support for children with hemiplegia and their families and aims to increase public and professional awareness of hemiplegia and its associated conditions.

  • Hemi-Kids Foundation
    We provide information and support to families of children who have hemiplegia, often the result of a pediatric stroke. We have a listserv group that provides online support to parents of children with hemiplegia and currently has members from all over the world

  • HIRE (Head Injury ReEducation)
    A small national charity, affiliated with Headway and a member of CABIIG, that deals with educational issues for those people who have an aqcuired brain injury.

  • Hope for stroke
    American user-run stroke network

  • Hughes Syndrome Foundation
    A registered charity, aiming to provide information about Hughes Syndrome (antiphospholipid syndrome: APS), to help fund research into this condition and provide support to sufferers
